Consultant in Writing and Implementing EAL, Equality, and SEN Policies in Schools

Dr Stephen Willoughby has been a professional teacher since 1981, working in UK Further Education, state and special schools. Recently, he has worked as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Equalities Consultant for local education authorities (LEAs) and inner-city primary schools. Dr Stephen Willoughby works with schools to prepare, monitor and review Equality, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and SEN learner policies. Stephen supports leaders to develop and review curricula, the effective use of Teaching Assistants, and the examination of SEN students.

 

Dr Stephen Willoughby was awarded his doctorate from the UCL Institute of Education (UK), the world-leading centre for research and teaching in education and social science. His work here focussed on School Leadership within the Context of School Policy.   Stephen is an active member of British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS). Moreover, he is a lead member of a professional research group working on various projects regarding governance within schools, and the status and utilisation of school Teaching Assistants (TAs). Furthermore, Stephen is researching the inner-city primary school sector, gathering and reviewing parental and student views on the benefits and detriments of current curricula projects.
