DR STEVEN HANNON

Dr Steven Hannon combines 20 years of experience in the education sector with his earlier career in the creative industries to offer engaging learning opportunities relevant to our daily lives. Steven is a passionate advocate of affective learning and well-being through creativity, critical inquiry and philosophical reasoning. He invites you and others to engage in these ways of thinking that can empower individuals with practical skills to support their personal growth.

 

Dr Steven Hannon is a Teacher of Critical Thinking, Creative Industries, Education, Philosophy and Social Sciences. He is a Pastoral Care specialist and scholar. He has a Doctorate in Education from UCL Institute of Education (UK), the world-leading centre for research and teaching in education and social science. He has a Masters in Design from UAL Central Saint Martins, PGCE from University of Greenwich, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Philosophy from Birkbeck College. Steve has worked as a Senior Manager in Education, Lecturer, Teacher, Head of Department and Head of Year for twenty years across the school, further and higher education sectors. Prior to this Steven worked in documentary and entertainment media, as director, editor, scriptwriter and video artist, for a variety of independent productions and the BBC. Steven has exhibited his video artwork at the BFI and was nominated for a Royal Television Society award for his documentary work. Further, he is an active educationalist, guest lecturers at the UCL Institute of Education on doctoral research in education and pastoral care, supervises and tutors doctoral students, and is a Convenor for BERA’s History of Education group.

 

Dr Steven Hannon has extensive experience in lecturing to large audiences, running focussed classes and workshops for smaller groups.  His presentation style is engaging and interactive. He is able to convert complicated theories and paradigms into straightforward ideas, with practical worth, and impart useful advice for all participants.
